Well, part of the new Sony Alpha A100 digital camera does actually shake on start-up, but that is only due to the effective internal dust reduction system of this most useful digital photography partner! Overall the Sony Alpha 100, Sony's first foray into the DSLR camera field, stands on very firm ground, and for an entry-level DSLR it has already acquired a reputation for offering great features and value-for-money digital photography.
While the new Sony Alpha A100 digital camera clearly resembles its forebears - especially the Konica Minolta 5D - it has a unique set of functions and capabilities not usually associated with an entry level camera of this nature.
Importantly, the Sony Alpha camera comes with a high resolution 10.2 Megapixel CCD sensor, which, along with the dust reduction system (including a special dust-repelling coating on the sensor), a built-in image stabilization system and a range of more than 20 lenses offered in partnership with Zeiss, gives excellent digital photography results.
So where does the "alpha" come into the picture, as it were? In its collaboration with digital camera guru Konica Minolta to develop the Alpha A100, Sony has thankfully opted to use the same Alpha mount as Minolta's SLR cameras. This means most of the legacy lenses can also be used on the new Sony Alpha 100 camera.

And while on the subject of lenses: with the built-in image stabilizer used in the Sony Alpha A100 digital camera, any lense you use will have the advantage of this shake-reduction system.
As an entry-level DSLR the Sony Alpha A100 camera will satisfy a broad range of digital photography buffs. For point-and-shooters there is a fully automatic mode along with pre-set scenes, but more serious photographers won't feel left behind with the full manual controls, ISO up to 1600, and RAW format for intensive conversion and editing afterwards at the computer, and the lithium-ion battery is good for 750 pictures per charge.
Some users of this digital camera have mentioned an increase in picture noise at ISO settings from 800 and up, but then reviewers have generally deemed this to be no worse than many of the Sony Alpha 100 camera's rivals.
With its excellent technology and ease of use, resulting in consistently great images, the verdict seems to be that buying a new Sony Alpha A100 digital camera, introduces you to quite an impressive entry into the DSLR segment of the digital photography market.
